Improving the lives of children with special needs

The P&G Open Minds programme is part of P&G’s Live, Learn and Thrive global corporate cause that focuses the philanthropic efforts of P&G’s brands, employees and corporate foundation on improving life for children in need, from infancy to 13 years old. In Malaysia, Open Minds was established in 1999 to improve the lives of children with special needs such as autism, cerebral palsy and dyslexia, we focus primarily on providing educational opportunities. Over the last decade, P&G Malaysia through Open Minds, has contributed more than RM6 million, benefitting more than 7,000 special children in the country.
Recently, we honoured our 10th anniversary pledge by equipping 50 Community Rehabilitation Centres (Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti) across Malaysia with multi-sensory therapy facilities. The therapy rooms will help children with learning disabilities develop their senses and skills through the use of stimuli such as lighting effects, colours and sounds. Working closely with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development and the Social Welfare Department, our hope is to reach out to more than 1,000 special children in both urban and rural areas.
Follow us in our journey in improving the lives of more special children, in more parts of Malaysia, more completely, now and for generations to come.
